Woodstock and the surrounding areas have some local foodie events coming up in November where you can sample fantastic comfort foods for very reasonable prices!
First is the Annual Red Flannel Hash Supper at the Universalist Church, 7 Church Street, Woodstock on Saturday, November 2. This dinner takes places from 5:00 to 7:00 pm and no reservations are needed. Dinner is $12 for adults. In case you don’t know what red flannel hash is (we didn’t before we tried it!), it is a delicious New England traditional medley of corned beef, potatoes, onions, and beets with a few additions depending on the cook. Along with the hash, dinner includes baked beans, coleslaw, breads, sweet cucumber pickles and pie.
Another mouth-watering option is the First Universalist Society of Hartland Church turkey supper, also on November 2. Located at 8 Brownsville Road, the dinner will take place between 4:30 – 6:30 PM; no reservations required. For $12 adult you will enjoy a turkey supper with all the fixings including homemade pies and rolls.
In case you plan to be in the White River Junction area, also on November 2 there is a take-out only turkey supper with homemade pies at the White River Junction United Methodist Church. Call in your orders between 1-3 pm and pick up orders from 4-5 pm. Call 1-802-295-7091 to place your order.
There is a Roast Pork Dinner in Barnard hosted by the Barnard Mountainviewers Snowmobile club on Saturday, November 9 at the Barnard Town Hall. Doors open at 6:00 PM for one seating at 6:30 PM. Call Lynne at 802-234-9785 or Pam at 802-234-9223 for tickets or visit the Barnard General Store or Mills Hardware in Bethel. Reserve early for this popular event!
Along with delicious food you will meet the locals who are big supporters of these events. Most dinners are served family style.
